Draft Survey is a quantity determination method which is very widely used during the loading and discharging of the dry bulk cargoes by the ships.
It refers to determining the quantity of cargo by calculating the displacement of the ship in water by means of its stability booklets prior and after loading or discharging.
Draft Survey method is recognized by the customs of the most of the countries. It is carried out jointly by the qualified staff of international inspection companies (surveyor) and the cargo officers of the ships.
